From Lauremor

Jump to: navigation, search

Lauremor is a fantasy world that John Evans started working on in 2005. He has approximately half a dozen worlds under his belt that range from very sketchy to mostly detailed. He seemed to be in the habit of creating a whole new world for each campaign that he ran, and he's tired of doing the same old stuff over and over. John has finally decided to take all of his hard-won knowledge about world building and put it into a single world that will be used in all fantasy games that he runs from here on out.

The only details contained here will be information that John wants his players to know. There are probably quite a few more details that he has developed that will not be published here.

The initial land masses were generated using Fractal Terrains. Once that was done the mapping was entirely done with Campaign Cartographer, but John exports parts of the world to PNG images so that they can be viewed online. For maps and details of the world, continents, oceans, and other parts of the world, you can view the main Lauremor page.

Here is a brief history of Lauremor. As more details come about through game play, more details will be added to the history of the world.

There are a variety of races living on Lauremor. The details about them are on the Races page.

Polytheistic worship is new to Lauremor. You can find out more at the Religions page.

There are three moons in the sky over Lauremor. You can find out more about them at the Calendar page.

There are many planes of existence that are somehow linked to Lauremor.

As a side note: I came up with the name "Lauremor" completely on my own, but I just discovered that in one of the many Tolkien-tongues, the phrase "laure" means gold, and "mor" means black. I guess this means that "Lauremor" means "black gold" which is odd because I grew up in the oil fields of West Texas. Back home crude oil was often referred to as "black gold." It's strange the trips you take that still bring you back home without meaning to.
